![]() Thank you Magrath! Preliminary results look great - great weather - lots of helpers - and at least as many donations this year as last year. 5,300 on Sat and est 250 more the week following = 5,550 lbs valued at $11,100 this year. Apparently: "Magrath Alberta ROCKS!!! The total weight [on Saturday] was 5,300 pounds I [per Director at Lethbridge Food Bank, she] has attached pictures for you of all the food that was brought in! Thank you so much for all you do to help support the Lethbridge Food Bank" The helpers at the Lethbridge Food Bank were surprised and so appreciative. It took us all morning to collect and place everything into the (Custom Windows) truck and only twenty five minutes to unload it there into over a dozen large bins. If anyone was missed, we apologize. We will be taking in a catch up load later this next week for anything else that was to be donated. Bring it to the Pharmacy please! Lion Roger Magrath/Lethbridge Food Bank - Apr 2016 - So many helpers - too many to number .. but here are a few photos: Notice: change of arrival time in Lethbridge at the Food Bank planned (will now be 2:30pm Sat 23 Apr)
Due to many other events (funerals/baptisms and all that) going on that same day, we have decided to make a slight delay in the delivery of the truck to accommodate everyone's schedule: We will load the truck as usual that morning from 9-11ish at Seniors Parking Lot - Fletcher Funeral is 11am at MSC - Davies have a family event 11am in Lethbridge at Forestry Ave - Cal Heggie of Custom Windows will drive the loaded truck from Magrath to Lethbridge about 2pm so at 2:30pm we will need our crew to help unload the truck at Lethbridge Food Bank Thanks to all and see you all there!
Thanks to everyone who helped make this years 9th annual food collection drive (Apr 2014) so successful (despite the lovely weather)! You donated over 4600 lbs of food - valued well over $9200 this year! We still have one more load to take in to the Lethbridge Food Bank from homes that were somehow missed or donated later. This project would not be possible without your individual donations, and the generous donation of time from the local church youth groups, the drivers of the kids and the trailers (from the Heggies of Custom Windows, and Mr Hoy and Mr Nelson for the 2nd truck and trailer). Congratulations to all! The Lethbridge Food Bank was most appreciative.
![]() 9th Annual Community Food Drive week ending Sat 26 Apr 2014 Last year (Apr 2013): "Great turnout for the Community Food Drive this year .. and I still have a van load (at least 200 lbs more) of items that were missed and brought in to the Pharmacy this week! Thanks to everyone for their great support this year!" LIon Roger -- and -- "So I must say that once again: YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!!! The total weight was 6421 lbs, which is a cash equivalent of $12,842! You collected nearly 1000 pounds more than last year! I can’t even thank you enough for doing this for us!" Tonya Woolford Executive Director Lethbridge Food Bank 9th Annual Community Food Drive week ending Sat 26 Apr 2014 All is prepared for out upcoming Magrath and District Community Food Drive! Last year Apr 2013: "Total donations came in over 6500 pounds valued over $13,000!" Lion Roger Prev year Apr 2012: "The total pounds collected was 5551 which is equivalent to $11,102. Thank you, thank you, thank you... Tonya Woolford Executive Director Lethbridge Food Bank" The Magrath Lions Club organizes the event in conjunction with members of local churches - LDS, United, Lutheran, et al. The real heroes are all the local youth groups and their leaders/parents who drop off the 1300 flyers the week before the collection day and then go around again on the Saturday morning at 9am and 10am to pick up donations from all of you. Thanks also to time and equipment donated by drivers and their trailers (Custom Windows, Neilson Construction) and their time and gas to drive your donated food items into the Lethbridge Food Bank. Thanks to all the volunteers who load and unload the trucks!
We are hoping for great weather again this year. If we happen to miss collecting from you, sorry .. but your donations can be still be left at the Magrath Pharmacy and Magrath Lions Club members will take them into Lethbridge for you as well. Thanks again. Do you have time to help load and unload food bank donations? Come to the Magrath Seniors Center parking lot Saturday morning. Loading trailers starts about 9:30am. We plan to leave for Lethbridge Food Bank after 11:30am and be unloaded in Lethbridge by noon or shortly thereafter. 1300 flyers will be printed and posters prepared for display in coming weeks. We have new volunteer organizers again this year so some advance training may be required. The folding of the flyers and stapling to the folded collection bags should be prepared in advance (traditionally by the LDS Youth Groups in the 9 church groups in Magrath, Welling, Del Bonita and Spring Coulee). These youth groups distribute the flyers/collection bags to each home 2 or 3 days prior to the Saturday collection day. They are instructed to please not ring or knock - just leave the flyer/collection bag hanging on the door knob. On the Saturday collection day each home is visited again at 9am and at 10am. Please again, no ringing or knocking - just collect up any bags of donated food and bring it to the collection area (in the parking lot west of the Magrath Seniors Center). Traditionally the collection is organized by the LDS YM Groups. We will have volunteers at the collection area to load the trailers and plan to leave by 11:30 am for Lethbridge. Thankyou for your assistance in this worthy project. Without everyone's helping hands it would be much harder to accomplish!
