No Cost Clothing Event
Magrath 26 Aug 2023 Thank you to all volunteers, donators and clients for another successful No Cost Clothing event. We estimate over 250 clients receiving free clothing and only 24 large bags remaining that were forwarded on to local thrift stores. We thank all those who helped collect, sort and display and run the event (30+ Lions, Band Boosters and other Volunteers). Everything was cleaned up and out the door by early Sat afternoon. Yay Magrath!
A special thank you to Town of Magrath for their provision of the Ice Arena and use of all their tables from 23-25 Aug 2023 at no charge to the Lions Club!

Community: No Cost Clothing Event (Sep 2013) clothes collection
The annual (2013) No Cost Clothing event, sponsored by the Magrath Lions and headed by Lion Elizabeth and Lion Tracie, was held Fri 14 Sep 2013 (for collection and sorting at Magrath Ice Arena) and Sat 15 Sep 9-1pm open to public (for free distribution). Many thanks to all the volunteer helpers (over 60 helpers) and for all the clothing donations. The arena was a nice location for this event. The tables had lots of space between them and it was easy for everyone to browse the selections. Clothing was on display on 2 dozen tables and bigger items were on hangers around the arena glass. After all the shoppers were done, we bagged up the remainder, some 40+ bags of clothes, for donation to Diabetes Society (for pickup on Mon). Thanks again to you all for clothing donations and all the help. Most came early for best selection, but still had new browsers up to 1pm. See you next time!
Community: No Cost Clothing Event (Sep 2012) clothes collection
As no one else from the community wanted to step forward and take charge, Lion Elizabeth decided we should organize and re-implement this project. It has been a community run project in the past and has been very popular. The club decided we will run it annually from now on. The school provided the location in their Auditorium and use of their tables, and the town FCSS administrator had been storing equipment used for the event hangers and a long [borrowed] clothesline [volleyball] cable. Everything came together with many volunteers willing and able to come and help out - just no one wanted to be in charge. Community members drop off bags of unneeded clothes and members of the community were able to come and browse through our selection of items.
A dozen or so bags of donated clothing not selected was passed on to Diabetes Society and 7 boxes of shoes taken to Lethbridge Thrift Village. We had many potential Leo club members out to assist in the sorting and implementation and clean up. It was held on Sep 20-22, 2012 and we hope to make this an annual project.

HISTORY: This project was originally envisioned and run as a community project in years past from time to time with the Lions Club assisting. We volunteered to coordinate it as an ongoing annual community based project with the assistance of so many kind community helper volunteers starting in 2012. We thank everyone for their support of this project which continues to this day in clothing donations, sorters, helpers, and recipients. Magrath Lions
