Magrath, AB Nov 2023 Thank you to all who got boxes from us and who returned filled boxes for delivery to Lethbridge this weekend. 28 boxes were dropped off at the Magrath Pharmacy and we did a few more ourselves. Others donated directly to Lethbridge. We were able to take 46 completed boxes this year to the Lethbridge drop off location. Yay Magrath! 

Request: "Lucky 19! For the 19th consecutive year the Magrath Lions Club is sponsoring Operation Christmas Child. Boxes and packing information can be picked up at the the Magrath Pharmacy any time during regular business hours starting 19th Oct and must be turned in by 6pm Friday 17th Nov 2023 (the last day we accept collections here in Magrath). Typical items for the boxes include simple things like a toothbrush, facecloth, school supplies and a few small toys and gifts. Completed boxes can be dropped off at the Magrath Pharmasave collection area and the Magrath Lions Club arranges the delivery to the Lethbridge drop off site. Thank you for your participation and Merry Christmas to all!

Community Collections for Operation Christmas Child 

20 Christmas boxes were prepared and delivered to Lethbridge collection point on Sat 19 Nov 2022. Thanks to everyone for helping out!

Background: Reminder -  the drop off deadline is quickly approaching! From end of Oct through mid Nov (**must drop off by 6pm on Fri 18 Nov 2022 at the Magrath Pharmacy this year**) the Lions Club collects completed Christmas Gift Boxes to donate to Operation Christmas Child. Perhaps your family or community group would like to join in the fun with us! In addition to the boxes themselves, we encourage you to to include $10 per box to help cover shipping/delivery costs.

Although you can provide your own boxes, we also have a few pretty green and red empty cardboard boxes available for pickup at the Magrath Pharmacy and other locations around town .. Thanks Everyone!

1. First order of business was the assembly of boxes. Call to order was at 7:25pm for meeting proper. Blys asked to be excused as in Edmonton attending a funeral. Lion Shauna noted some donations still at school. We will ask Lion Elizabeth to collect them by 6pm on Thu. [Note: Lion Roger/Shauna distributed boxes and flyers at Sat 11 Nov program at Museum].
2. Then discussed the proposed Santa's Gone Loonie event. The previous promoter V Maher had decided to postpone this event as her family was moving and building a new home this year. Some discussion had been raised in summer about possibility of taking this over by the Lions. No decisions had been made then and the matter deferred to future meeting. Catherine would like to see it done this year if possible. Consensus appeared to be that club members would like to assist but no one is able to be in charge to organize. After some lively discussions, Lion Roger moved that we consider this idea for a future year. Approved 6/7.
3. December meeting will be the Lions Christmas party. President Alex recommended we meet at a Lethbridge restaurant (Earls or Montanas or similar). Tentatively set date for Wed 20 Dec or thereabout and ask Lions to check back with their schedules  [Lion Shauna works that evening but is free Tue 19 or Thu 21] .
4. January meeting should include visit by Zone leadership and include some inductions. Noted that zone leadership training set for Sat 27 Jan 2018 in Lethbridge.
5. Some upcoming projects discussed: a) Lion Roger to organize the Spring Garage Sale [March] . b) Catherine would like to see a town Free-cycle/Rendevous/Give away day promoted by the Lions for summer time. c) Mini library (like at Dahl's) would be nice - bigger version could include space for donations (eg non perishable food items, etc). To be discussed  further at future meetings. d) Playground upgrades still in planning phase. Safety check kit cost has been determined to be over $300 so we will be looking at other options. Lion Alex is overseeing these proposals - old round about and ancient teeter totters must be addressed for safety. On going

Nov 10 - 19, 2014 Annual Christmas Box Drive 
Thank you for supporting the annual Magrath Lions Christmas Box Drive! In Magrath we are collecting your donations from Nov 10 - 19, 2014. There will be Christmas Box collection areas for Magrath School classrooms if you wish to donate items there for the drive. You may choose as well/instead to drop off your own filled boxes and donations for shipping ($7 per box suggested) to the Lions c/o Magrath Pharmacy M-F 9-6pm - but remember the cut-off for our Magrath Drive is Wed Nov 19 6pm at the Pharmacy!
