Lions Garage Sale Report 2014

It took a week to set up and a week to clear out, but overall the event was a great success! Collection week went very smoothly. Being open the Sat before and Mon-Fri at lunch-hours turned out to be a nice way to do it. We had many more great donations this year and being able to hold and set up the event indoors was a great blessing. We borrowed 10 long tables from Duane at Keyline and still filled up the entire home hardware building with great items for the day of the sale. Thanks to everyone who so willingly donated! Thanks to all the garage sale-ers and helpers at the event. Everything seemed to proceed quite smoothly. Our pricing policy took a little while for customers to get used to, but we got some good positive feedback on how it went. Clean up after the event also went fairly smoothly on Sat and continued on throughout the following week over lunch-hours and as time permitted. After all the sales, we still boxed up most items - about 30 boxes of clothing, 20 boxes of books and games, and 40 boxes of housewares/misc items were picked up by the Diabetes Society on Thu at 10am to go to Lethbridge. Some of the bulkier unsold items were driven to Cardston for donation by Lion Shauna. The tables were returned Thu and we swept out the building. The final larger 'odds and sods' items were moved out the following Sat and a single van load of dump worthy items taken to our local facility. We prepared a thank you letter for Jay Mackenzie at Roosters and returned his keys to him on Mon 9 Jun 2014.

Total proceeds this year were just over $1300. Setup started Sat 24 May 2014. Sale was held Sat 31 May 2014. Cleanup week ended Sat 7 Jun 2014. Great Job Everyone!
