Discussed use of Casino funds; propose each of our main projects should be authorized for annual budget funding from Casino account. eg up to 5000/year for *Playground Upgrades, *Food Drive, *Community Garage Sale, *Peace Poster, *No Cost Clothing, *Christmas Box Project, *Kindness Bingo, *CLERC eyeglass collections, plus *Admin and *Training/Conventions .. Lion Roger will forward info and proposal to Casino Chair Lion Lawrence for AGLC approvals for AUP's.
Discussed upgraded sign for Terry Trainer Memorial playground at Fishpond. Lion Alex will bring up with town at next community volunteer coordination meeting.
Report: Lion Shauna reported that 3 shipments of donated eyeglass have been sent to CLERC in Calgary.

Welcome Lion Roger reviewed items from minutes of meeting part A on 18 Feb 2024. Approved.
Lion Lawrence provided more details re AGLC Casino regulations as far as we understand them now. Lion CC Brent Johnson emailed info further to last zone meeting in Lethbridge that seemed to conflict with other clubs experiences. Lion Lawrence to investigate what can and cannot be done with these funds (eg rental of facilites for projects, etc).
Discussed upcoming food drive and how to allocate some of donated food items to new SASH food bank here in Magrath and the balance to Lethbridge food bank.
DIscussed other project ideas: Free public swim or skate at community events paid for by Lions Club.

7pm Call to order by President Alex White.
Annual financial reports to Jun 2022 ready for signature to send to the corporate registry (Society Annual Returns). Lion Roger will mail out with required check #118 $50. Reimbursement check to Lion Roger signed #117 $214.23 re Lions Dues paid in the amount of $150.50 US. Lion Alex noted that fees are expected to increase with increased US/Can exchange rates. Current balance on Lions accounts is $3808 with just over half of that in our Casino account. Link to online report is here: Lions 2022-23 Reports
Lion Alex reported on his recent meetings with Lions and with the Town of Magrath. Town hall committee style meeting was held with other local volunteer groups (4H, etc) with plans for ongoing future meetings to coordinate needs and upcoming event times and places. 7 Feb 2023 is the next quarterly meeting. Lion Alex is ok to continue attending these on our behalf. Town is considering preparing the old curling rink for use as a community center. The brochure prepared for the Magrath Lions Club for our Dec 22 meeting will be used to introduce our club to this group. Lions zone meetings were in Lethbridge. Many upcoming Lions conventions and travel opportunities abound. Next zone leadership meeting is 23 May 2023 at Lethbridge Casino. District C2 Convention 3-4 Feb, Lethbridge Dog Walk 27 May, LCICon 2023 in Boston, MA 7-11 Jul, USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum Reno, NV 14-15 Sep.
Lion Alex provided a handout on club recruitment (see lionsclubs.org/MembershipChair page) discussing 4 steps a) Build a Team, b) Build a Vision, c) Build a Plan, and d) Build Success. These links provided for club members to review documents for future discussion.

Discussed dates for upcoming club events. Food Drive will be held week ending Sat 29 Apr 2023. LDS Stake has approved that date by email and Lethbridge Food Bank emailed back to let us know they will have staff there to receive the collections on that date. Lion Alex proposed we hold our annual yard sale fundraiser week ending 3 Jun 2023. He will approach town for use of the appropriate venue (arena or curling rink) to store and sell these goods. Lion Roger suggested we purchase a large Magrath Lions Club sign/banner for use with these kinds of events. Date for annual No Cost Clothing exchange proposed for 24-26 Aug 2023.
Casino report by Lion Lawrence Papworth. We are scheduled for Thu-Fri 16-17 Mar 2023. Discussed volunteer workers. Lion Lawrence has prepared a list of past helpers. An online form Casino Volunteers will be used to coordinate the scheduling. Lion Lawrence and Lion Larry will call to fill slots as needed.
8:30pm Moved to Adjourn. Next meeting will be held at 7pm on 16th Feb 2023 (as Lion Roger and Shauna will be out of town on the 4th Thu in Feb).

Thank you to all that were able to attend our Magrath Lions Chirstmas dinner event. Sorry to miss any of you that were under the weather or having to work that night. We hosted 4 honored guests from our District C-2 leadership with 16 total in attendance. A lovely meal was provided by Gwen Boylan and afterwards LCI Chevron Awards were presented to Lion Alex and Lion Laurie Ann, to Lion Shauna and to Lion Elizabeth from Lions HQ by guest of honor Kevin Gibbons (First Vice District Governor of District C-2 [1st VDG]). We were encouraged to attend the upcoming District C-2 8th annual District Conference in Drumheller, AB the weekend of Feb 3-4, 2023. BTW We agree there were at least 4 spirits in Christmas Carol movie ..

Dinner commenced at 7pm after welcome by Lion Alex and a blessing on food offered by Lion Elizabeth Olsen. Updated copies of the Club Fact Sheet v.2023 were available for review. We plan to circulate these throughout the town in coming year. Meeting concluded by 8:15pm. In attendance 1st VDG Lion Kevin Gibbons, 2nd VDG Lion Glen Garalde and travelling companions Lion Raquel and Lion Leslie, Club President Lion Alex White, Lions Elizabeth, Roger, Shauna, Larry, plus invited guests from community. Thank you again to all for attending with us! Next meeting will be in 2023 (4th Thu in Jan).

Assembled Operation Christmas Child boxes from donated items. Assembled boxes were taken to Lethbridge collection point the following Saturday. Thanks everyone!

Community Collections for Operation Christmas Child

Background: Reminder - the drop off deadline is quickly approaching! From end of Oct through mid Nov (**must drop off by 6pm on Fri 18 Nov 2022 at the Magrath Pharmacy this year**) the Lions Club collects completed Christmas Gift Boxes to donate to Operation Christmas Child. Perhaps your family or community group would like to join in the fun with us! In addition to the boxes themselves, we encourage you to to include $10 per box to help cover shipping/delivery costs.

Although you can provide your own boxes, we also have a few pretty green and red empty cardboard boxes available for pickup at the Magrath Pharmacy and other locations around town .. Thanks Everyone!

7pm Call to order by President Alex White.
Review prior meeting minutes, approved.
Discussed plans for coming months. Nov 2022 meeting will be held Thu 17 Nov as a box filling event for Operation Christmas Child gift boxes so we can get boxes out by their deadline. We had hoped to use Seniors or SASH facility but both were booked for craft sales event that weekend. Donation boxes will be placed around town and school agreed to include our event in their announcements. Lion Roger will also collect donations at Magrath Pharmacy.
Casino event scheduled for 16-17 Mar 2023. Mr B Pederson agreed to serve as our Casino facilitor again. Will need volunteers to work four shifts Thu 1-8pm, 8-4am, and Fri 1-8pm, 8-4am.
Lion Alex encouraged any who can to attend upcoming zone and district events, especially 3-4 Feb 2023 in Drumheller, AB.
Lion Lawrence moved that we make a donation to local family with teen age child undergoing cancer treatments in amount of $500 to assist with costs for medications and travel. Approved.
8:15pm Moved to Adjourn. Next meeting will be held at 7pm on 17th Nov 2022 (note: 3rd week vs 4th).

MAGRATH,AB March 2022 We propose a restart of our in person meetings on 4th Thu of each month starting Thu 24 Mar 2022 7pm at the home of Lion Roger and Shauna Davies. We realize some of you may already have plans on that date or are already on a beach somewhere living the good life, but if you are available, come on back! Also, please add us to your monthly calendars on going!

We have much to discuss and prepare for:

- Lions Community Food Drive 2022 has been updated in our partners [the Magrath LDS Stake] online calendar for week ending Sat 7 May 2022. Lions executive have agreed that this new date will be a better fit for the club and community.
- Lions 'Annual' Garage Sale Fundraiser 2022 is proposed for mid April 2022 with collections to commence as soon as possible. Date and location TBD
- We have some work to catch up on our finances and reporting. Dues kept coming due and we have some catching up on required [arg] paperwork.
- club memberships and past dues
- the many upcoming lions conventions and events
- other future plans and events

It will be good to see your faces again! We hope to see you all there as soon as possible.
