Lions Meeting Jan 23 2013 6:30pm at Yings

1. Dinner by Yings. Thanks! Welcome to guest visitor D Blumell 
2. Discussed Playground Project - Lion Tom. Has been ordered for Fishpond via the Town. ETA is Jun 7 2013 with build scheduled for 14th and 15th of Jun 2013. We need to organize work party of 6-8 handy  volunteers for the install that weekend.
3. Discussed Casino Application - Lion Tom assigned to contact AGLC to ensure our paperwork is in order. Year end report may need to be submitted. Can Lion Lawrence assist?
4. Lions Garage Sale - planned for weekend of 4 May 2013. Lion Tracy to oversee plans.
   
5. Noted Community Food Drive scheduled for week of Apr 22-27. Lion Roger will coordinate. Sat 27 Apr will need work group to assist in loading trailers and unloading at Lethbridge Food Bank. S Nelson has volunteered his trailer to assist this year. Will also contact Custom Windows to see if they can provide a trailer as well.
6. Discussed how to support of local business in the community and possible Leo projects. Table for future meeting.
7. Lion Lesley will be asked to report on Eye Glass Collection boxes at next meeting. Thanks.
8. Lion Deanna is working on Leo Club Mural Project. Has local artists working on design phase. On hold at moment until better weather arrives.
9. Lion Roger will resurrect the Birthday Calendar Fundraiser project for Apr-Jun 2013 as time permits.
10. Discussed community No Cost Clothing Event. Need to book school when available. March would be best but depends on when school gym can be booked. Discussed dates in Apr 2013 as well (but that conflicts with Lion Roger's involvement with Chamber Trade Show at Ice Arena on weekend of Apr 13-14. Lion Elizabeth will coordinate with the school to find a date when the event can be held. It was last held on Sep 20-22, 2012.
11. LIon Elizabeth would like to organize another Lions Club Speech Contest at the Magrath School. Club agreed to fund this event with prize money and posters with cost about $200. Approved.
12. Guest Dale provided a fund raising idea: Vesey's Bulbs www.veseys.com. It would best be run in spring. Seed packs are sold for $10-15 and 50% goes to club. Possible benefit to Lions/Leo Club? Discuss at next meeting.
13. Lion Roger will prepare Jan 2013 Club Report for upcoming Zone Training Meeting (28 Jan 2013 in Lethbridge).
